Q: Are anglers required to hold a valid fishing license in Naples, Florida?
DM: Yes. You'll need to purchase a Florida fishing license before you fish from a leisure craft. You may also need a license for other forms of fishing (i.e.: from docks, beaches, etc.). All local rules and regulations and short-term visitor licenses are available from the Collier County Tax Collector’s Office or various sporting goods stores.

You do not need a license to fish from municipal piers or if you are a customer of a professional fishing guide.

Q: Where are the best places to fish by boat in Naples, Florida?
DM: You can find many species of fish within 5 miles of shore in the Gulf of Mexico, in the mangrove forests that line the Intercoastal waterways between Naples and Marco Island, on Gordon River, in Big Marco Pass and near the many docks that line the bay’s canals and waterways.

Naples Bay Resort provides all fishing boat rental customers a complimentary, easy-to-navigate color map that includes popular fishing areas located throughout the Paradise Coast’s vast system of estuaries, bays, creeks, flats, and near shore and offshore waters.

Q: Where can I fish in Naples, Florida if I don’t have a boat?
DM: The historic Naples Pier is a popular fishing location for tourists and locals. You do not need a fishing license to fish from the pier and there is no fee to enjoy its facilities, which include restrooms, a concession stand and beach vendors. You can also use one of the pier’s many cleaning stations to fillet and prep your catch of the day.

Naples’ beaches are also frequented by licensed anglers hungry to catch a variety of fish including shark, especially at dawn and dusk.
